IEEE ROMAN2000 is the 9th International Workshop on Robot and
Human Interaction. This conference will address issues and recent advances in
the research on the fields related to the communication and collaboration in
human and intelligent systems.
Communication and collaboration in humans and intelligent systems
will be considered in terms of technological advancements and methodological
extensions towards new interaction paradigms in networked society.
The scope of conference has of gathering research experiences
in different disciplines for expanding the horizon of intelligent systems as
amplifiers of human knowledge and capability in the next millennium.
All the researchers who are involved in the following scope are
welcome to present their papers.
ICMA2000 (International Conference on Machine Automation) will
be held simultaneously, which treats also "human friendly mechatronics".

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
- Paper submission will occur in two stages:
- - extended summary review submission.
- - camera ready copy submission.
For the review please mail four copies of extended summary (500-1000 word text
+ several informative figures) until April 24th (Mon.) After the review, you
will receive notification and an author's kit to aid in the preparation of the
camera ready copy.
- Dead-lines of each phases are as follows:
- - Submission of review papers: April 24 (Mon.), 2000
- - Notification of acceptance: June 14 (Wed.), 2000
- - Submission of camera-ready manuscripts: July 31 (Mon.), 2000

人々と知的な機械のコミュニケ−ションはロボットの出現により顕 在化した新しい問題であるが,近年のコンピュ−タ・ネットワ−ク
の普及とともにますます重要なものとなり,新たな情報環境の構築 とインタラクション枠組みの確立が急がれている.
IEEE ROMAN は1992 年の発足以来,人間と機械の協調問題にロボテ ィクスおよび認知心理学の両面からアプロ−チする場を提供してき
た.第9回を迎える2000 年のワ−クショップでは,産業,生活, 教育など社会のさまざまな場面での知的システムと人間とのコミュ ニケ−ションと協働の問題を幅広くとりあげ,新たな課題や最新の
成果に対してオ−プンな視座から議論する.
本ワ−クショップで人間の知的能力を拡大する機械としての知的シ ステムに対して多彩な挑戦を試みる研究者・技術者が互いに経験と
アイデアを交換し,新世紀を見通したコミュニケ−ションシステム ならびにロボットシステムの新たな役割が見い出されることを期待 している.
今回は「人にやさしいメカトロニクス」をテ−マとするICMA2000 (機械自動化国際会議)と同時開催で,参加者は両国際会議に出席
できる.
